Full Body Chills

Anglim/Trimble presents 𝐹𝓊𝓁𝓁 𝐵𝑜𝒹𝓎 𝒞𝒽𝒾𝓁𝓁𝓈, a group exhibition of paintings and textiles which recall the psychophysiological experience of contemplating the cosmos.
The earliest evidence of stargazing humans is a 16,500 year old star chart drawn in a cave in Lascaux, France. When we look to the night sky, we wonder how the world works and what mortality means. This deep yearning is fundamentally human.
As discoveries in astronomy and physics solve more of the universe’s mysteries, our sense of insignificance in the face of the great unknown remains. The sublime immensity of the universe, its unfathomable time and space, flows through us. It is impossible to grasp, yet it is us.
This change in perspective imbues the daily mundane with a new magic. In contrast to the universe, the story of humanity is a brief one. But the miles we’ve migrated, oceans crossed, tears shed, lullabies sang, genocides faced, love given and deaths mourned carry infinite weight.
As humans have evolved and dispersed into disparate cultures, our differences veil an inherent oneness. In conceptualizing the universe, we reflect on our own existence: how far we’ve come, how far we have to go.
